Nursing Home Abuse & Nursing Home Negligence
As our loved ones age, we often have to entrust others with their care by admitting them to nursing homes or extended care facilities. In our society, when a nursing home is owned by a profit driven corporation, the local facility often suffers from understaffing, lack of sufficient resources, and poor management/training. The elderly are among the most vulnerable segment in our society and they bear the brunt of this profit driven culture in the form of negligence, or in extreme cases, outright abuse.
If at any time you have reason to suspect that a loved one in a nursing facility is suffering from negligence or outright abuse, it is always a good idea to contact your local and state authorities to investigate. However, you can also go further and file a private action in the form of a lawsuit against the individual or entity. It is important to note that there is only a limited amount of time allowed by law to initiate legal proceedings as a result of a facility’s or an individual’s negligence or intentional acts.
